The best AI whiteboard video generator depends on the job you need done. For lessons with math, long videos and narration in your own voice, we’d pick Chasca, which we make. Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM) is the best free option for studying your own sources, Golpo lets you edit a finished video frame by frame with prompts, Simi includes the most minutes per plan for short videos, and StrokeVideo gives you a free video every day. If you’d rather build every scene yourself, VideoScribe and Doodly are the classic choices, and Vyond is the one for animated characters.

How did we choose and check these tools?

  • What’s included: tools that make whiteboard-style explainer videos, either from a prompt or a document (AI generators) or scene by scene (whiteboard software), and that publish their prices.
  • How we checked: we read each tool’s own pricing, help and documentation pages on 2 November 2026. Where a page doesn’t say something, we say so rather than guess. Prices and limits change, so check again before you buy.
  • Our bias: we make Chasca. We’ve tried to say plainly where another tool is the better choice, and every claim about another tool links to its own pages.
  • Not included: avatar video tools such as HeyGen and Synthesia, which put a presenter on camera rather than drawing on a board, and general video editors.

Chasca: best for math, long lessons and your own voice

Chasca turns a prompt, a PDF, Word file or slide deck, an article link or a recording into a narrated whiteboard video: it writes the script, storyboards every scene and draws each one stroke by stroke in time with the narration, usually in under a minute for a one-minute video.

  • Good for: lessons with equations, which Chasca writes in math notation line by line as the narrator explains them, with graphs plotted from their functions and Arabic equations written right to left (Arabic math lessons); long lessons of up to 30 minutes on every paid plan, told in chapters; narration in your own voice on every plan, Free included (custom voices), or your own recording as the narration (your voiceover); 79 languages, with 30 narrators who each speak all of them.
  • Also: six drawing styles, landscape, vertical and square videos, SRT and VTT subtitles, branding from Pro, and an API, SDK, CLI and MCP server from Plus.
  • Watch out for: you can’t place drawings by hand; a finished video changes one thing at a time. Plans are billed monthly only, the app’s own screens are in English, and the look is always a drawn board: no avatars and no footage.
  • Price: two free videos up to 1 minute each, watermarked; then Solo $9.99 a month for 30 minutes, Plus $19.99 for 70, Pro $49.99 for 200, Max $99.99 for 400 and Team $499.99 for 2,000 (pricing).

Golpo: best for editing frames of an AI video

Golpo also turns a prompt or a document into a narrated whiteboard video. Its stand-out feature is frame-by-frame editing with prompts: one edit is free, then each edit is charged.

  • Good for: re-prompting a single frame of a finished video; choosing scene breaks before the video is made (Growth and up); paying yearly, at 40% to 50% off, or paying per minute with no plan.
  • Watch out for: on its pricing page, videos run 2 minutes on Starter and Creator, 4 on Growth and 10 on Business and Scale, with longer ones as $200 add-ons. Color starts on Growth ($199.99), and voice cloning and your own narration on Business ($499.99). The free video is watermarked and can’t be downloaded. Narration comes in 46 languages.
  • Price: Starter $39.99 a month for 20 minutes in black and white, up to Scale at $999.99 for 800 minutes; pay as you go from $7.99 a minute. More in Golpo vs Chasca.

Simi: best for many minutes of short videos

Simi, from Lamina Labs, makes whiteboard explainers from documents, with an HTTP API, Python and Node SDKs and an MCP server for developers.

  • Good for: lots of short videos. Per Simi’s site, Plus costs $19.99 a month for 6,000 credits, Pro $49.99 for 18,000 and Max $99.99 for 45,000, with one credit roughly one second of video: about 100, 300 and 750 minutes. Yearly billing saves 40%, and narration covers 80+ languages.
  • Watch out for: “Most plans make videos up to about five minutes”; longer videos and a custom voice come with a Business plan, priced on request. A free plan isn’t published.

Gemini Notebook (NotebookLM): best free option for studying

Google renamed NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook in July 2026. Its video overviews turn the sources in a notebook into a narrated video, in styles that include Whiteboard.

  • Good for: understanding your own readings, for free. Per Google’s help page, you choose Explainer, Short (about 60 seconds) or Cinematic (English only, 18+), a style (style choice is for users 18 and over) and a language, and you can download the result. Usage limits refresh every five hours, up to a weekly cap.
  • Watch out for: there’s no script editing, voice choice or branding, a video can take more than 30 minutes to make, and Google warns that videos may contain inaccuracies or audio glitches. StrokeVideo: best for a free video every day

StrokeVideo makes whiteboard videos with AI, and its free plan is the most generous we found.

  • Good for: trying lots of ideas. You get one free video a day, up to 2 minutes, with no watermark (a 2-second StrokeVideo card closes it). Paid plans make videos up to 15 minutes, you can narrate with your own recording, and failed renders aren’t charged.
  • Watch out for: narration comes in 15 languages, and the site doesn’t mention voice cloning.
  • Price: priced by region. For India on 2 November 2026: $19.9 a month for 40 minutes, $39.9 a quarter for 120 minutes, or $99.9 a year for 500 minutes. More in StrokeVideo vs Chasca.

VideoScribe: best for building it yourself, with AI help

VideoScribe is whiteboard animation software: you build each scene on a canvas. It now has AI tools for images and scripts, and AI voiceovers on its Core and Max plans, but you still put the video together yourself.

  • Good for: full control over every image, line and timing, with AI to speed up the parts. You can record your own voiceover in the app.
  • Watch out for: on its pricing page, Lite allows 5 downloads a month and videos up to 5 minutes, Core 30 downloads and 10 minutes, and Max unlimited downloads and 20 minutes. The 7-day trial is watermarked.
  • Price: in the US, billed yearly, $150 a year for Lite, $255 for Core and $320 for Max. More in VideoScribe vs Chasca.

Doodly: best for drag-and-drop scenes on the desktop

Doodly is a desktop app for Windows and Mac where you drag drawings, characters and text onto each scene and set the timing.

  • Good for: building scenes by hand, with Doodly’s sister apps (Toonly, Talkia, People Builder and Pyks) and Voomly included. There’s a 14-day free trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
  • Watch out for: its pages mention no AI features, so every scene is yours to build.
  • Price: Standard $49 a month or $490 a year; Enterprise $79 a month or $790 a year. More in Doodly vs Chasca.

Vyond: best for animated characters at work

Vyond is an animation studio built around characters, used a lot for workplace training. Its FAQ lists whiteboard animation among its styles, and Vyond Go makes a video from a prompt, a document, a script or a web page.

  • Good for: characters acting out workplace scenarios, long training videos (25 minutes on Starter, 40 on Professional, 90 on Enterprise), 1,300+ avatars and, from Professional, translation into 95 languages.
  • Watch out for: the price, and voice cloning only on Enterprise and Agency. Free trial exports carry a watermark.
  • Price: per its pricing page, Starter $99 a month or $58 a month billed yearly; Professional $199 a month or $100 a month billed yearly. More in Vyond vs Chasca.

How do you choose?

  • Will anyone else watch it? If it’s only for your own studying, start with Gemini Notebook. If it goes to a class, a course or a channel, you’ll want control over the voice, length and format.
  • Does it have math in it? Choose a tool that writes equations properly, and check every symbol before you publish, whichever tool you use.
  • How long is it? Most AI generators stop at 2 to 10 minutes. For lessons longer than that, Chasca makes up to 30 minutes on every paid plan, StrokeVideo up to 15, and VideoScribe Max up to 20 by hand.
  • Whose voice should it be? For your own voice without a top-tier plan, Chasca. For your own recording, Chasca, StrokeVideo, VideoScribe and Doodly all work.
  • Which languages? Simi lists 80+, Chasca 79, Gemini Notebook 80 language options for Explainer, Golpo 46 and StrokeVideo 15.
  • Do you want to build it yourself? Then VideoScribe or Doodly.

What should you test before you pay?

  1. Write one real prompt with a number, a name and, if you teach, an equation or a graph.
  2. Make it in two or three tools with their free videos or trials.
  3. Check every symbol and figure on screen, the pronunciation in your language, the watermark, whether you can download it, and how long it took.
  4. Make one change you’d really need, and see what it costs.
