The best free AI whiteboard animation makers in 2026

Yes, several make the whole video from a topic for free. Ten free plans compared: videos, length, watermark, download, card and the first paid plan.

Yes: several AI tools will make a whole whiteboard video from a topic for free, but what you get free differs a lot. StrokeVideo is the most generous, with a free video every day of up to 2 minutes and no watermark, and AnimatedBoard makes one free minute, also with no watermark. To try a lesson in your own voice, with exact equations and diagrams, we’d pick Chasca, which we make: your first two videos are free, up to a minute each, watermarked. Explainimate writes free scripts every day, and Animaker allows three watermarked downloads a month. To study your own notes rather than publish, Gemini Notebook, the new name for NotebookLM, makes video overviews for free.

How did we choose and check these tools?

  • What’s included: AI tools that make the whole narrated whiteboard video from a topic and let you make one free, plus Gemini Notebook for studying your own sources.
  • How we checked: we read each tool’s own pages between 2 and 4 November 2026 and noted what its free plan gives: videos, length, watermark, download and card. Where a page doesn’t say, we say so. Free plans change often, so check before you count on one.
  • Our bias: we make Chasca. Several free plans below are more generous than ours, and we say where. Every claim about another tool links to its own pages.
  • Not included: VideoScribe and Doodly, where you build each scene and get a trial rather than free videos (our roundup); Powtoon, whose free plan has no AI credits; and Simi, which publishes no free plan.

Chasca: two free videos with nearly every feature

Chasca, which we make, turns a topic, a document, a link or a recording into a narrated whiteboard video, drawn stroke by stroke as it’s narrated, usually in under a minute.

  • Free: your first two videos, up to 1 minute each, with a small Made with Chasca mark, no card and no expiry date. Download each as an MP4 with SRT and VTT subtitles, or share a link. Asking for something it can’t make doesn’t use one up.
  • What’s in it: 30 narrators in 79 languages, six styles, the drawing hand, exact diagrams and equations, a custom voice made from about a minute of reading, and your own recording of up to 1 minute as the narration. Changing subtitles, style or music later is free.
  • The catch: two videos in all, against StrokeVideo’s one a day, and ours are watermarked where StrokeVideo’s and AnimatedBoard’s aren’t. A longer topic gets its first minute made, with the rest waiting for a plan.
  • After that: Solo is $9.99 a month for 30 minutes, with videos up to 30 minutes and no watermark (pricing).

StrokeVideo: the most generous free plan

StrokeVideo turns a topic or a script into a narrated whiteboard video, drawing each board as one generated illustration in one of 23 styles.

  • Free: one video a day, up to 2 minutes, as an MP4 with no watermark; a 2-second StrokeVideo card closes it. Free accounts can narrate with your own recording of up to 30 seconds.
  • The catch: narration comes in 15 languages, and its pages don’t mention voice cloning or say whether you need a card.
  • After that: priced by region; in India, $19.9 a month for 40 minutes, with videos up to 15 minutes and minutes that never expire. More in StrokeVideo vs Chasca.

AnimatedBoard: a free minute with no watermark

AnimatedBoard makes the whole video from a topic, an article or your script, drawing each part as the narration mentions it.

  • Free: one minute, once, with no card and no watermark, at paid-plan quality, in all 22 looks, with one AI voice per language. AnimatedBoard says the free video can be monetized.
  • The catch: one minute is all you get, and its pages don’t say how you download it. Every voice, your own narration, voice cloning and PDF or Word scripts come with paid plans.
  • After that: Starter is $29 a month for 30 minutes, or $20 a month billed yearly, with videos up to 15 minutes.

Explainimate: free scripts every day, then credits

Explainimate makes the whole video from a topic or your own script. You approve the script and the scene plan, then it draws with the hand you pick, even a photo of your own hand.

  • Free: 3 AI scripts a day without an account and 5 when signed in, and exporting is free. Drawing uses credits: new accounts get some, but Explainimate doesn’t say how many. No card.
  • The catch: until you pay, exports carry a small watermark, and videos made with free credits are non-commercial. Videos run up to 5 minutes, in 9 narration languages, and your own recording isn’t supported yet.
  • After that: Starter is $9.90 a month for about 2 minutes of video, or $8.90 a month billed yearly for about 3.

Animaker: three free downloads every month

Animaker’s AI asks about your prompt, then generates scenes, characters, a voiceover and lip sync that you can edit, and it has 100+ whiteboard templates in a doodle style.

  • Free: 3 downloads a month, watermarked, with 300 AI video credits and 40 minutes of text-to-speech a month, and no card.
  • The catch: free videos come without commercial rights, the longest free video isn’t published, and a drawing hand isn’t mentioned.
  • After that: Starter is $45 a month, or $25 a month billed yearly, for 10 downloads a month and videos up to 15 minutes; commercial rights start on Pro.

Sketchie: two free one-minute videos

Sketchie draws narrated whiteboard explainers stroke by stroke from a prompt, a PDF, a Word file or a slide deck.

  • Free: two videos in its Icons style, up to 1 minute each, watermarked, with no card.
  • The catch: downloads are listed only under its paid plans.
  • After that: Solo is $9.99 a month for 240 credits, enough for 20 minutes in Icons or 8 in Icon KIT, with videos up to 6 minutes.

Ankon AI: one free video of up to 2 minutes

Ankon AI draws whiteboard explainers line by line in time with the voiceover, from a topic, a script, a PDF or an image, with captions and an SRT file.

  • Free: 2 credits with no card, for a limited time: enough for one video of up to 2 minutes.
  • The catch: free videos may carry a light watermark, and whether you can download them isn’t published.
  • After that: Starter is listed at $29 a month for about 15 minutes, or $23 billed yearly, but its upgrade page, seen signed out, said plans were launching soon, so we couldn’t confirm they’re on sale.

Rekka AI: one free video, then the lowest price

Rekka AI makes narrated, hand-drawn explainers from a topic, in whiteboard, chalkboard, crayon and retro reel styles.

  • Free: one credit with no card, which makes one video of up to 100 seconds; there’s no ongoing free plan after that. A video takes about 5 to 10 minutes to make.
  • The catch: its pages don’t say whether the free video is watermarked or how you download it.
  • After that: Starter is $5 a month for 26 credits, each a video of up to 100 seconds (40 in retro reel): the lowest entry price here, with its API and MCP server included.

Golpo: one free video to watch, not to keep

Golpo turns a prompt or a document into a narrated whiteboard video.

  • Free: one 1-minute video, watermarked, which can’t be downloaded.
  • After that: Starter is $39.99 a month for 20 minutes in black and white, with videos up to 2 minutes, or pay as you go from $7.99 a minute. More in the best Golpo AI alternatives.

Gemini Notebook: free, for studying your own sources

Gemini Notebook, the new name for NotebookLM since July 2026, turns the sources in a notebook into a narrated video overview, with Whiteboard among its styles.

  • Free: within usage limits that refresh every five hours, up to a weekly cap; Google doesn’t publish the numbers. You can download a video from most notebooks.
  • The catch: it works from the sources you add, and you pick the format, language, style and focus, not the script or the voice. Choosing a style is for users 18 and over, a video can take more than 30 minutes, and Google warns it may contain inaccuracies.
  • After that: Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra raise the limits. More in NotebookLM video overviews vs Chasca.

How to choose

  • To try lots of ideas: StrokeVideo, with a free video every day.
  • For one clean clip to post: AnimatedBoard’s free minute has no watermark.
  • To hear your own voice, or test equations and diagrams, before you pay: Chasca’s two free videos include a custom voice and nearly every feature.
  • To revise your own readings: Gemini Notebook.
  • If you’ll pay soon anyway: compare minutes, not monthly prices. Rekka AI’s $5 plan makes up to 26 short videos, Chasca’s $9.99 makes 30 minutes and Explainimate’s $9.90 about 2.

Then give two or three of them the same one-minute topic and compare the drawings, the voice and the file you keep.
